 The bathtub reglazing process was developed in the 1950's due to the inconvenience and high cost of replacing a bathtub. Many people refer to the process as reglazing, refinishing or resurfacing.  The process and chemicals are essentially the same.  The difference only takes place depending on if it's fiberglass, cast iron or tile.  Fiberglass bathtubs and showers have to be sanded prior to refinishing.  Cast iron or steel tubs are prepped with a chemical so the new finish can adhere to the old. The same process can be aplied to sinks, tile walls and counter tops.
